Reentry Job Fair

The Employment & Information Fair was held for FCC Forrest City Camp/Low on Thursday, August 21, 2014. There were a total of forty-eight guests that represented the thirty-two vendors that attended the event. Warden C.V. Rivera welcomed the diverse group of vendors representing five different states that included government agencies, service organizations, churches, and businesses. A total of one hundred and three returning citizens from the low component, and forty from the camp component participated in this year’s fair. The event was a tremendous success based on feedback from visitors and the reentering citizens that participated. This informational employment fair was coordinated by Antonio Anderson, Teacher, FCC Forrest City/Low and Kim Taylor, Teacher FCC Forrest City/Camp.

Our collaboration with The Central Arkansas Re-Entry Coalition (CARE) was instrumental in the success of the event. CARE was well represented with Ms. Leta Anthony, Chairperson in attendance along with a host of committee members representing several other businesses. The networking by Forrest City’s Re-entry committee with other CARE affiliates brought legitimacy to the event. ADBECA, Helping Hand, Lewis-Burnett Employment Finders, Help Yourself Publishing, and Goodwill Industries all members of CARE offered job opportunities to our returning citizens.
